Yesterday I was thinking about people who shoulder tap at liquor stores and for anyone not familiar with shoulder tapping it means an underage person stands outside a liquor store and asks someone of age to purchase alcohol for them. I never did this, that’s just stupid. To be honest, I never had anyone buy me liquor or beer underage, I was a young Airman in the Air Force — it was not worth getting an Article 15 for drinking underage.
I was stationed in Alaska from 2003 to 2006 and one winter evening a group of buddies and I headed to the Brown Jug, it’s the local chain liquor store. As I was heading to the store 2 young men, likely around 15 or 16 emerged from the shadows and said something to the effect of “Hey man, can you get us some beer?”. I shrugged and they handed me a $20, I asked them what they wanted and they responded with a couple of 40oz beers. I went into the liquor store and by the time I had made it to the aisle, I decided I was going to teach these young men a lesson. So I grabbed my beer and paid for it, with their $20 bill.
I headed outside and they started asking about their 40’s. I got into my car and drove off. I know, looking back it was kind of a messed up thing to do — however I hope I taught them a life lesson. Sometimes lessons are best learned the hard way. At least they did not shoulder tap an off duty Police Officer. This blog is a warning to all of the would be shoulder tappers out there, I will buy my beer with your money.
What a douche that was a dick move.
