School stuff falling into place

I took my English placement test last night at school and today I got my results back, I scored a 36 out of 36.  I’m not sure how the score is compiled as the test is 70 questions.  None the less, I was the first one done and it took a little over 25 minutes to complete.  I’ve always been good at test taking, but did not expect to get a perfect score.

I registered for English this morning and oddly it requires a lab.  I’m not sure why, but I had to take it so whatever.  So far my school schedule looks like this:

English (Mon/Wed) 0745 to 0910.
Introduction to Human Sexuality (Mon/Wed) 0920 to 1045
Survey of Film (Mon/Wed) 1230 to 1540

Not too bad, it will take a few weeks to get used to the long days in class — but oh well.   Monday is my Math test, I suck at Math — so wish me luck.

My mind is racing, make it stop!

IMG00163I am not much of a morning coffee and cigar guy like a lot of my friends and customers, however today is different. I am sitting outback on the patio with an iced latte from Starbucks and an Arturo Fuente Hemingway Signature. The two compliment each other well and I needed some time to collect my thoughts – so it worked out well!

I’m out here because my mind is racing and I needed an avenue to express what is on my mind and I find blogging to be a good course of constructive expression. Today is my English placement exam for college, this will determine which English class I am placed in when the semester starts next month. I’m super stoked to be going to school, and while I’m not really worried about the test, I still am to a degree. It’s been a long time since I’ve been in school — though I have no doubt I will place high on the English exam, I’m still a person who worries about this stuff.

I am also concerned about rehabilitation of my knee and losing all of this excess weigh I’ve put on since my injury in 07. I’ve never been skinny before, but I’ve never been anywhere near as fat as I am right now and I’m not happy with it. Last night we went and checked out a gym around the corner and are going to join as soon as they call us back with out orientation type appointment. I’m looking forward to getting back to the gym and while I won’t be able to run, I can hopefully push myself on the stationary bike and elliptical trainer. The weight won’t come off over night, but I am determined to make it come off which will require more than a few trips to the gym, it will require lifestyle changes. Oh, and I will have to cut back on beer. :(

My buddy Sean Cain is a b-movie director in Los Angeles known for his works, Naked Beneath the Water and Silent Night, Zombie Night. Sean and I have been friends for over 10 years and he is working on a new film called Breath of Hate and starring none other than the infamous, Jason Mewes of Clerks fame. I received this e-mail from him yesterday:

What’s up, dude?

Hope all is well. So, I’m starting a new film in August called “Breath of Hate” starring Jason Mewes (“Clerks 2″, “Zack & Miri Make a Porno”) and on Monday August 10th we’re filming in a strip club. We’ll need some patrons and all that so if you’re available let me know. Filming will take place during the day.

It’s not exactly a starring role, but it would be a lot of fun. The only problem, it’s on a Monday. I work on Tuesday, so I would need to head down Monday morning and back Monday night, that sucks ass. I will try and figure some stuff out, but it looks like I won’t be able to make it. I’m hoping I have another opportunity to be a part of one of Sean’s movies.

Another plan in the works is a trip to Hawaii around Christmas or the first part of the year. We have never been to Hawaii and are all looking forward to it. I feel however that planning the trip has become more of a headache for Danielle than she initially thought. We own a time share and figured that would make things easier. It really doesn’t, especially because we want to spend time there not on the big island, our preference is Kona. We are working on finding reasonable flights and right now are looking at about $2,500 for all the flights to Kona. It should get sorted out soon and will be a great trip, right now it’s a headache but it will pay off.

That’s really enough rambling, I’m going to finish my cigar and coffee and figure out what Patrick wants to do today, I think he wants to go to Guitar Showcase and play with the instruments. I’m not against that, I can play some other basses and see what my potential next bass will be when I get [much] better. Annyong kashipshio!

P.S. I found out who was rating my blogs a 1 star, it was my step Mom’s nephew. That fucking dickwad!

A pointless blog about hot dogs!

MulhollandDrive6Hot dogs, Armour hot dogs!

OK, well maybe not Armour hot dogs. I do love hot dogs. I prefer Hebrew National or Caspers given the choice. Ever since I was a child hot dogs have been one of my favorite foods from the grill. I also enjoy them when out and about and my favorite place in the WORLD to get a dog is at Pink’s Hot Dogs in N. Hollywood, CA on the corner of Sunset and La Brea. These guys are world famous for their dogs, all the celebs go to them and anything you could possibly want on your dog, can be found at Pink’s. My favorite you ask? The Mulholland Drive dog, it features grilled onion, grilled mushrooms, bacon, and NACHO cheese. Man, I just had some leftover hot dogs from last night, but just typing about Pink’s makes me want to NOM NOM NOM the Mulholland Drive dog.

If I am at home making dogs on the grill, I’m usually doing it with a cold beer and I’m cooking them until the skin is black. Not dry and black, just black and when you bite into them you don’t taste burnt dog, you taste nice juicy dog with that “pop” as your teeth break the skin. I’m usually cooking a pot of beans next to them, I often buy Busch’s grilling beans and add brown sugar and BBQ sauce to it, if I have bacon already made and leftover, I’ll put bacon in them. I’ll admit, their is not usually leftover bacon in my house. My preference for buns usually consists of steamed buns or buns placed on the grill to get them a crust around the inside.

How do I take my dogs at home? I take them with ketchup only and a few dill pickles on the side. 2 dogs with a few pickles and some beans and I feel like I’ve eaten a cow. I’m stuffed to the gills, but glad to enjoy them. I always laugh at the MANY people who refuse to eat hot dogs because they don’t know what is in them, I know what’s in them — LIPS AND ASSHOLES, just like my Mom told me and they taste just fine to me.

If you are a hater of the tasty dog, then pass the LIPS AND ASSHOLES — that means more for me!

The 1 star ratings are getting old!

The point of the rating system on my blog is to judge how people enjoy the content. I can understand if you don’t agree with some of my points of view..

BUT!!!

Someone keeps rating my blogs a 1 star right after I post them — ALMOST ALL OF THEM, so I get the feeling it’s a subscriber. If you don’t want to read my blogs then un-subscribe — rather than just give me 1 star. It’s pretty fucked up to give me one star just for the fuck of it.

If you’re reading this and you don’t do this, please disregard and thank you for your time. :)

The Samurai

1612800~Samurai-Brandishing-Sword-PostersToday I was giving blood at the Red Cross with some other brothers and the gal who was helping me noticed my Samurai tattoo and inquired about it. She asked me why did I put a Samurai on my body. As with all of my tattoos, they have reasons. I have only 1 that I do not have a reason for other than I like Pirates, which is REASON ENOUGH FOR ME.

I chose a Samurai because even as a small child I was fascinated by them. Samurai were warriors and soldiers who lived their live by a very strict honor system. Samurai were trained to fight to the death and honorably, their was no stabbing enemies in the back or doing anything which could bring discredit to themselves, if it fact dishonor or discredit was brought to them or their families, they would perform Seppuku. I find suicide to be very selfish to the families of the people who commit the act, but as a Samurai such an act was expected by the families if needed. I find anyone who is bound by ritual suicide as a means of not being dishonorable the be very honorable.

As the gal inquired about the tattoo, I explained that I admired the honor system Samurai’s lived their life by and the fact that being a good and honorable warrior and Man meant more to them than any material items in their life such as money and other possessions. As a good Man and Mason, I can relate to the importance of being a good Man. Also, I’m a Warrior, I have answered my Nations call, just like a Samurai and I signed a “check” away for anything up to the amount of my own life and would not take the experience I learned in the Military for anything, it’s been priceless.

She asked if I considered myself a Samurai, in which I replied with “No”. I explained that I simply felt like I could relate to a Samurai, especially where their value and honor system were concerned. The Samurai are some of the most honorable and strong Warriors the world has ever known. I’m glad that she asked me, because it really gave me a great topic to share with you [my readers].

I did not just get tattoos like some people do, because they look cool. Mine have meaning.

I’m the real fuckin’ deal, kids.
