Infecting the web with my nonsense since 1998.

I changed my major and hopefully my job!

As most of you know I was a pre-Nursing student, which all that means is I wanted to be a Nurse, so I was taking classes to get into the program.  The programs have a four year wait list on them, plus a lottery system.  I’m getting to old to sit around and wait for that kind of crap.  I’m almost 28 and behind my peers in the career world because I spent 8 years on active duty in the military.

Today I changed my focus to business, with a concentration on Management Information Systems.  It basically ties business and IT together.  Except it’s not IT in the capacity of installing print drivers and e-mail accounts, it’s real deal IT that helps make the company move more proficient.

This puts me on track to graduate in 4 years.  If I can make some work schedule changes, I may be able to cut that down to 3.5 years.  I won’t hold my breath though.

As far as changing my job goes, I am starting my own business.  Not some multi national corporation that has stock at like $40.00 a share, no, I’m not Apple.  I am going down to the County Clerk to get certified as a registered Process Server.  A Process Server well serves documents between attorneys as well as from attorneys to clients.  They know at the door and say “Hi! Are you Captain Falcon?” and when you say “Yes, I am!”, they would typically respond with “I have some legal documents for you”, then hand them to you and leave.

I know it does not sound like much, but it pays well.  $60 per service in the local area, anywhere from $75 to $100 per if it needs to be rushed or to go outside of the county.  Danielle works in the legal field and I have a friend who is a Lawyer and State Referee and both have promised to give me clientele.

It’s not going to make me rich, but with any luck I can get enough work to quit the cigar shop and do my own thing.  If I quit the shop I can take more classes and graduate quicker.

It’s time to move forward.
