Silly Facebook Notifications

Anyone who uses Facebook has friends who constantly send out notifications for applications they are using.  You know the ones “Jimbo hit you with a pillow, you have 2 days to hit him back” and “Vern sent you a gift on Mafia Wars”.  Most of these notifications are sent automatically because when you agree to install the application you give it permission to access contacts.

Well today I logged into Facebook and noticed a notification I had not seen before and from a buddy to boot (see picture).

Ahhhh stupid Facebook and its notifications, it’s too damn funny to get one like that though and it makes me wonder how many others got hearts from Perry.  I just wanted to share because that gave me a pretty good chuckle when I was logged in and saw that.  Please return to your regularly scheduled life, already in progress.

Remembering John Hughes

I just heard the news that Writer, Director, and Producer John Hughes passed away today after suffering a heart attack.  It’s a sad day for American Cinema as Hughes was responsible for some of the most memorable films specifically from the 80’s.  Films such as Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, National Lampoons Vacation, etc.

Some of my favorites from him were of course, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, as well as Weird Science, and Home Alone.  He was awfully young to die, especially in this day-in-age when a lot of people are living well into their 80’s.  I’m glad we were graced with his genius in 80’s film and he leaves behind a great legacy.  Rest in Peace, Mr. Hughes.

The 1 star ratings are getting old!

The point of the rating system on my blog is to judge how people enjoy the content. I can understand if you don’t agree with some of my points of view..

BUT!!!

Someone keeps rating my blogs a 1 star right after I post them — ALMOST ALL OF THEM, so I get the feeling it’s a subscriber. If you don’t want to read my blogs then un-subscribe — rather than just give me 1 star. It’s pretty fucked up to give me one star just for the fuck of it.

If you’re reading this and you don’t do this, please disregard and thank you for your time.

This is my first attempt at podcasting.  This WILL NOT replace my regular blog entries.  This might be something I do every once in a while to do something different and I promise it won’t be an hour long or fucking boring.  Please listen and use the comments below with any feedback you have for me.  Also, I use the F word once – so don’t let your kids listen.

Are you ready for Darrell Mogg DOT NET?

If you’re not, I suggest you click here and leave now.  Some of you guys might be old subscribers to my other blogs and some of you might have found me via facebook, google, or whatever else.  None the less this is the first introductory blog to my new site and you can expect to see a lot more writing than before.  Nothing stupid, I won’t be blogging every 30 seconds about my Dog or I just had some killer 7-11 nachos, even I have better things to do than that.

Let me speed up any of the past subscribers on what I’ve been up too and then we can get into blog content, etc.  Anyway, I separated from the Air Force, I moved from night shift at West Coast Cigars to day shift at Knickerbockers Cigars (Tue & Thurs) and I am going to start school full time in the Summer.  That’s pretty much it.  I’m still enjoying cigars, rum, movies, and being cranky.  So little to nothing has changed in that department.

As far as blog content goes as it stands their are a good amount of categories of blogs you will find at Darrell Mogg DOT NET.  Here they are and a brief summary of them.

Angry Rants - This is pretty easy to figure out, sometimes I get mad and write about it.  This will likely be R rated and contain tons of profanity.

Entertainment – This will be reviews, discussion, comments, etc. about anything related to movies, music, video games, etc.  Remember I’m a published movie reviewer so my reviews are legit.  Not some bullshit like you read at other sites.

General – This will be stuff that does not really fit in any other category.  Stuff usually pertaining to the cosmetics or any system changes which could affect the readers of the site.

Musings – A musing is basically anything which results in being deep in thought.  If something hits my mind and gets the wheels turning, their is a good chance I will churn out some long winded piece about how it affects me, how it does not affect me, how much it sucks, etc.  So the really good stuff, is found here.  I guess?

Oddities at Knickerbockers – This section will be devoted to anything weird/strange/bizarre I encounter while working or visiting Knickerbockers cigars.  I will omit names of specific individuals as to protect the innocent, haha.  Anyway, if last Tuesday was anything like the rest of my days will be there — it should make for some good laughs.

The Good Life – AHHHHHHHH, the good life. [smells flowers].  Alright, not really anything flowers related but this will be devoted to my thoughts/reviews/babble about those things which are considered part of the good life.  A few examples of these are good food, good cigars, and great booze.  It’s possible I will post random BS in this section should I “over” indulge in the “Good life”.

Travel - Should I trave anywhere exciting or anywhere at all, I will tell you all about it here.  Bitch about my knees and ass hurting from the drive and how either awesome or shitty the trip was, you can expect photos as well.  Not of my ass or knees, FYI.

Weirdness at West Coast – This is the same as Oddities at Knickerbockers.  Refer to that for info.

WWJLPD? – What would Jean Luc Picard do? This will be for fun, mostly goofy.  I will use this section to compare certain dilemmas or situations I find myself faced with and try to imagine how the good ole Captain of the Enterprise would handle it.

Up at the top of the site you can find various links such as About, Gallery, Appearances, etc.  Check them out.

Alright so that concludes that part of the site.  Also, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE use the navigation menu and subscribe (up at the top).  You will receive notifications when I create a new blog.  I will not sell your name, info, nothing.  I just like the ability to notify you if I write something new.  In the rare case you hate my writing and blog, then your taste stinks.
